The Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- has seized 250,000 United States dollars and 2.5 million kwacha cash from Good Time Steel Company in Kitwe.

ZRA Corporate and Communications Manager OLIVER NZALA says the money was found during a search of the company following allegations of tax evasion.

Mr. NZALA told ZNBC News that Good Steel is a partner of Tubombeshe Mine Limited which was also searched on allegation of tax evasion and failure to disclose its production of Gemstone.

He said the money seized will be handed over to the Drug Enforcement Commission- DEC -for further investigation.

Mr. NZALA said this is because the resources are suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Operations at the mine have since been halted.
