The Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- has collected 238-million kwacha through third party agents from March to August 2023.

ZRA through the Debt Recovery Unit -DRU- early this year appointed all government spending units, ministries and parastatals as third-party agents to garnish payments of suppliers who are non-compliant with payment and declaration of correct taxes.

This followed an issuance of a Circular by Finance and National Planning Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE which took effect on March 13th 2023 on the need for all government suppliers to be compliant.

ZRA Corporate Communications Manager OLIVER NZALA says 204-million kwacha was garnished through government agents while 34-million kwacha was garnished through private appointed agents.

Mr. NZALA in a statement to ZNBC News has reminded all government suppliers and business houses to be tax compliant while urging appointed agents to ensure that all withholding revenues are remitted to the Authority.
