The Zambia National Public Health Institute -ZNPHI- has constituted a multi-sectoral Incident Management System to coordinate the response to the outbreak of anthrax in the country.
ZNPHI One Health Specialist RAYMOND HAMOONGA says the system consists of the Ministries of Health, Livestock and Fisheries and Green Economy and Environment and the Department of National Parks and Wildlife.
Dr. HAMOONGA has told ZNBC News in Lusaka that the coordinated team is managing the response to the anthrax outbreak and sharing information.
He said the team is also doing needs assessment of the outbreak to ensure that the response is effective.
Dr. HAMOONGA said part of the spread of anthrax has been caused by ignorance by those eating carcasses of animals which died of anthrax.
