Zimbabwe’s PROSPER MUTWIRA and Kenya’s ROLEX JELIMO have won this year’s 45 Kilometers ABSA Marathon barging 45,000 Kwacha each in the male and female categories respectively.

MUTWIRA, who finished second last year in the males race, managed to emerge victorious after finishing his race in exactly 2,23 minutes and 11 seconds while JELIMO finished in 3 hours-5 minutes and 28 seconds in the females race.

Zambia’s EDWARD MWALE came out second in the males category while TISA KALEMBA finished third in the female’s 45-kilometers category.

Reacting to the race, the athletes expressed happiness and told ZNBC Sports that its encouraging to witness an increase in the number of participants.

Speaking during the medal presentation, Youth, Sports and Arts Minister ELVIS NKANDU applauded ABSA Bank for the growth of the Marathon which attracted over 4 thousand runners.

And ABSA Bank Managing Director MZINGA MELU said the Bank will continue promoting good health by encouraging physical fitness.
