The Zambia Sports Fans Association-ZASPOFA Patron Peter Makembo has appealed to President Edgar Lungu to delay further the unlocking of football in the country because, Soccer unlike other minor sports it is a highly contact game.
Makembo says with daily rise in the COVID-19 cases in the county, it is only prudent not to allow football to start until such a time the pandemic eases.
Makembo who is also FAZ life member has further appealed to footballers to continue keeping fit from their homes.
He has also commended President Lungu for his steady approach to re-opening of the economy.
Makembo has therefore urged sports fans and the public to continue adhering to the guidelines given by the President through the ministry of health if the fight against COVID-19 is to be won quickly.
Makembo says his appeal to the President has been necessitated by numerous calls from football fans who want football back on the pitch in the country in order to complete the season.
England and Germany among other countries have announced that in the next few weeks, their football leagues will resume in order to finish the 2019-2020 football season.
