Senior Lecturer at the University of Zambia, School of Agriculture Sciences KALALUKA MUNYINDA says Zambia has a local rock that can be used to produce Phosphate Fertilizer.
In an interview with ZNBC News at the ongoing 95th Agriculture and Commercial Show in Lusaka, Dr. MUNYINDA said laboratory tests carried have proved that when crashed and acidulated, the rock can be used as Compound D fertilizer.
He added that so far the experiments conducted have proved that it works better than the conventional fertilizer.
Dr. MUNYINDA further said the rock is abundant in Lusaka, Eastern and Northern Provinces.
He called for more investment in research to enable the country produce fertilizer locally, using local materials.
