Copperbelt Provincial Division One side Konkola Mine Police president Gideon Mwenya has implored the newly constituted Zambia Premier league body to engage the FAZ provincial administrations in finding sponsors for the regional leagues across the country .
Mwenya says there is a need to come up with a mechanism aimed at coming up with a reward system for the lower leagues in the provinces as they play for nothing.
He says with the coming up of the Zambia Premier league, there is need to clearly indicate who will be the custodian of the provincial leagues between the provincial FAZ administration and the ZPL .
He says clubs are made to spend so much on the operations of the clubs in fulfilling fixtures with nothing for the players and teams to play for apart from promotion to the National league.
“I would like to encourage the Zambia Premier League to work with Provincial Associations to see how best they can add value in terms of finding sponsorship so that clubs can play for something unlike when you finish the league and get nothing,” Mwenya said.
“The whole process of bringing the Premier League is to make sure football is developed even at provincial level so the Premier League and the Provincial should work together to find some form of sponsorship.”
“I would like the Premier League to work together with the Provincial Associations and help out where they are lacking,” he added.
The Zambia Premier League recently landed a K10 Million annual deal with Betting juggernaut Betway as the official betting partner.
The ZamFoot Crew also understands that the ZPL will soon announce ABSA Bank Zambia as the new headline sponsors of the FAZ National Division One.
