Authorities in Lusaka have removed the vendors who had set up make-shift stalls on one lane of Freedom Way in the Central Business District -CBD.
A team of officers from the Ministry of Local Government, Road Transport and Safety Agency -RTSA- and State Police, have also impounded several buses, which were found parked outside Kulima Tower station.
This happened in the early hours of today, in an operation meant to restore sanity in the Lusaka CBD.
Local Government Permanent Secretary, MAAMBO HAMAUNDU has told ZNBC News that the operation is also meant to protect the lives of vendors, as they were trading in the passage of vehicles.
Mr HAMAUNDU has explained that the affected vendors should visit the Lusaka City Council and get some trading spaces in various markets.
