By Ruth Chainda-Vice President Inonge Wina has assured traditional leaders in Mkushi District that Government is determined to continue improving the lives of people in Mkushi and the country.
Mrs Wina says Government will NOT relent in providing social amenities for the people of Mkushi to better their lives and increase economic opportunities.
She, however, explained that the delay in such developmental works is because Government had to divert resources to attend to urgent matters such as electricity importation and providing food for those in places that were affected by hunger.
The Vice President also said Central province is one of the provinces that will benefit from the World Bank rural road project .
She further thanked the traditional leaders for the role they play in guiding the community especially on girl-child education.
And Chief Shaibila, who spoke on behalf of the traditional leaders, praised government for the support it continues to render to the people of Mkushi district .
Chief Shaibila also thanked Government for the early distribution of inputs stating that they have since advised the community to plant their seeds before December 10th to take advantage of the rains.
The traditional leader also called on government to ensure that they provide seed that is compatible with the terrain.
He also called on government to provide a mining license and equipment for the youth in the area so that they can venture into mining .
Chief Shaibila also called on government to formalise the upgrading of the Mansa clinic into a mini hospital
Among the Chiefs present were Chief Mulungwe and Chief Shitina among others.
The Vice President also held a closed door meeting with Patriotic Front officials.
