Four Chiefs representing the Unga people of Lunga District, Luapula province have praised Government for the quick intervention in clearing 50 kilometers of the water channels which connect the district to other parts of the province.
The four chiefs are Kalimankonde, Nsamba, Bwalya, And Kasoma Lunga.
Speaking on behalf of other Chiefs, Chief Kalimankonde of the Unga people thanked President Edgar Lungu for delivering dredgers on time before the onset of the rains.
The traditional leader said people in the four chiefdoms where hit hard with the floods because most of channels where blocked by weeds.
Chief Kalimankonde is hopeful that the coming of the dredgers will help with the easy flow of water in various channels.
And Luapula province Minister Nickson Chilangwa said the clearing of the channels will start immediately.
Luapula Member of Parliament Emerine Kambanshi thanked government for coming to the aid of the people in Lunga District.
