Under 23 Tournament Our Redemption – Lameck Banda

Zambia Under-23 national team winger Lameck Banda joined the team in camp in Cairo with fellow Russian based teammate Klings Kangwa ahead of the Egypt 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off on Friday.

Speaking when he touched down in Cairo on Wednesday, Lameck Banda emphasized on Teamwork and Fighting spirit within the team.

“Am happy to join camp because this is a big tournament that we need to utilize and redeem ourselves because Zambia is not doing well at the moment especially at senior level and we want to continue that same form,” he said

Zambia Plays it’s the first game against South Africa on Saturday and Lameck believes winning the first game will increase the Moral in camp.

Zambia Are placed in the same Group as Ivory Cost, South Africa, and Nigeria, the Speedy Winger is very Optimistic about the teams’ chances and unbothered about who comes there way.

“It’s a tough group so we need to work hard and work together. The most important thing in a tournament is to win the first game. If you win then you are good to go hence it’s a must-win game for us,”

The under-23 will play South Africa without hee Austria based duo of Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu due to club engagements. Another big name to miss is Fashion Sakala whose serving a Suspension.

Zambia is in group B alongside side South Africa, Nigeria and Ivory Coast. The top three teams at the tournament will qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
