The Zambia Under 16 Basketball National team has withdrawn from participating at the Junior Africa cup championship finals in Tunisia.
Zambia junior national teams were awarded a wild card entry into the finals by World Basketball governing body FIBA in June 2023, after finishing runners-up during the Africa Union Sports Council Region 5 under 20 games held in Lilongwe, Malawi last December.

But the Zambia Basketball Federation -ZBF- has announced that it is unable to send the teams to Tunisia for the games due to non availability of funds at the time.
Federation President MAZIKO PHIRI says timing was an issue and it is unfortunate that the teams did not travel after securing funding at the end.
This is according to a statement issued by ZBF Media and Marketing Director DANNY MWIKISA.
