The Veterinary Association of Zambia -VAZ- says the torching of the Mumbwa District Veterinary office will affect efforts in disease control and prevention in the district.
VAZ President MALCOM CHIYOBA says the actions by the rioters will have long term effects because valuable equipment and data has been lost.
Dr. CHIYOBA says not only the veterinary department has been affected but other government department files and documents have also been destroyed in the process.
He has appealed to members of the public to reconsider their actions before they engage in riotous behaviour and cause damage to public property.
And Dr. CHIYOBA has called for the utilization of the Constituency Development Fund to rebuild some of the building of the veterinary services that were destroyed.
He was speaking in an interview with ZNBC NEWS in Lusaka today.
