Teachers in Eastern Province have appealed to the government to address the challenge of accommodation and speed up upgrading and promotion of teachers.
Speaking during the World Teachers Day commemoration in Nyimba district, teacher unions’ representative MUSONDA KATONGO however commended the government for recruiting more teachers.
And Eastern Province Education officer BRAINLEY MALAMBO said the ministry is addressing the challenges that teachers are facing.
Mr. MALAMBO said his office is also addressing the issue of teacher upgrades.
And Nyimba District Education Board Secretary NEBOD NKOLOMONA said the district is doing a lot to improve learner performance.
In Livingstone, the District Commissioner, EUNICE NAWA has challenged teachers to improve the pass rate in the district.
Ms. NAWA says poor teaching delivery has been a leading factor to the low pass rate in the district.

Meanwhile National Union of Public and Private Educators of Zambia -NUPPEZ- President, VICTOR MUYUMBA has urged private schools to improve conditions of service for their employees.
