Livestock and Fisheries Minister MAKOZO CHIKOTE says the African swine fever has been detected at another farm in Chongwe District of Lusaka Province.
Mr CHIKOTE says the farm is in the Palabana area and all the pigs have been slaughtered and burnt.
He says the Veterinary officers discovered the farm when they were carrying out surveillance within 15-kilometers radius from the farm that had the African swine fever in Chaminuka area on September 16, 2023.
Mr CHIKOTE has told ZNBC News the ban on the movement of pigs and pig products into and out of Chongwe due to the outbreak of the African swine fever is still in effect.
He said Veterinary Officers will continue carrying out surveillance in the area to ensure that the disease is kept under control.
