Local Government Permanent Secretary, MAAMBO HAMAUNDU says street vending must not be encouraged as it is illegal.

Mr HAMAUNDU says the Ministry, through the local authorities, will put a stop to the vice.

He explained that the new government will NOT repeat past mistakes, but will endeavor to put a stop to all illegalities.

Mr HAMAUNDU was speaking today, when he featured on THE UPDATE programme on ZNBC TV 1.

He has noted that street vending encourages continued offences of public nuisance nature, as well as adversely affecting council efforts of cleaning the Central Business District.

Meanwhile, Mr HAMAUNDU has reiterated his appeal to those, who have built on drainages, to voluntarily remove their structures, before authorities move in to demolish.
