Fisheries and Livestock Minister Nkandu Luo is shocked with stalled works on the Mbala milk processing plant for the past two years.
Professor Luo says despite the contractor being paid K784, 000, infrastructure works housing the US$230,000 state of the art equipment still remain outstanding.
Speaking when she inspected the infrastructure, Professor Luo is disappointed with what she found and has since summoned the contractor to her office.
She says the failure to complete the works by the Zambian contractor is not only a let down to the people in Mbala but also an embarrassment on government who awarded the contract.
And Mbala Livestock Cooperative Chairman Lawrence Kaliwanda has appealed to government to complete the infrastructure works because the milk processing plant will empower a lot of households in Mbala.
He says the delayed completion of the infrastructure has delayed the installation and operationalization of the equipment that is already at the plant.
