Speaker of the National Assembly NELLY MUTTI has directed Tourism Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA to come up with measures that will help to address the prevailing Human- Animal conflicts in Shangombo and other parts of the country.

Ms. MUTTI has requested that the Ministry find ways and suitable means in which animals and humans can live in harmony without any loss of life.

She says Zambia should also learn from other African countries that have succeeded towards harmonizing Animal-Human conflict.

The speaker said this in parliament during the matters of urgent public importance.

During the session, Shang’ombo Member of Parliament MUBIKA MUBIKA raised concerns over the increasing number of elephant attacks on humans in Shang’ombo.

Mr. MUBIKA said people are now facing challenges to move and source for food due to the influx of elephants that have moved from Siyoma to Shang’ombo.
