Speaker of the National Assembly NELLY MUTTI has called on Members of Parliament and staff to have a good understanding of the Public Financial Management system in the country.
Ms. MUTTI says the Members of Parliament and staff need to carry out the enhanced oversight function in the National Assembly.
She notes that Zambia has implemented a number of reforms in the area of Public Financial Management such as enactment of the Public Finance Management Act of 2018 and the National Planning and Budgeting Act of 2020, among others.
The Speaker said this when she launched the Public Financial Management Handbook at the National Assembly in Lusaka today.
And Chairperson of the Planning and Budgeting Committee FRED CHAATILA said the Handbook provides valuable insights and guidance in navigating the complexities of Public Financial Management.
Mr. CHAATILA said it is gratifying that the Handbook has been revised to incorporate major developments in public Financial Management both in Zambia and the outside world.
The Speaker later unveiled the office building for the Parliamentary Budget Office.
