President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has announced that two more provincial airports will be upgraded to enhance the aviation sub-sector.
President HICHILEMA says following the upgrade of the Kasama Airport in Northern Province, Solwezi Airport will be next to be upgraded followed by Mansa Airport.
The airports will be furnished with improved runways, airfield ground lighting systems in order to enhance aviation safety and security.
Government has constructed a three-kilometer runway and rehabilitated the terminal building at Ksama airport, which will enable the facility to accommodate larger aircraft.
This is poised to increase trade and investment in the northern circuit to spur economic development.
Speaking when he officially opened the 3rd session of the 13th National Assembly yesterday, President HICHILEMA said all provincial airports will receive a facelift in the coming years.
He also revealed that critical roads across the country will be worked on under the Public – Private Partnership arrangement.
The President revealed that negotiations are still underway for the construction of the Mufulira – Mokambo , Ndola – Mufulira and Katete – Chanida roads.
