Police in Lusaka have arrested and charged Socialist Party National Youth Chairperson GABRIEL BANDA for two offences of proposing violence.
Police Spokesperson RAE HAMOONGA says Mr. BANDA 33, of Lusaka’s Kalingalinga compound is said to have initiated the rioting and looting of some shops which occurred at the University of Zambia between September 18 and 19, 2023.
Mr. HAMOONGA says the suspect has been detained in police custody and will appear in court soon.
And Mr. HAMOONGA says Police in Lusaka have arrested and charged a 21 year old man of Lusaka’s Mtendere East Township for the offence of Seditious Practices.
He has told ZNBC NEWS in a statement that the suspect, AARON CHIPAMPE, has been arrested and charged for publishing a seditious post on Facebook which advocates the desirability of overthrowing Government by unlawful means.
Mr. HAMOONGA says the Posting was made between September 1 and 8, 2023.
