Western Province Permanent Secretary, SIMOMO AKAPELWA, has urged the Sesheke Town Council to engage more contractors to meet the six thousand desk deficit in the district before the end of the year.

Mr. AKAPELWA has however cautioned the local authority to ensure that quality is prioritized as the council identifies more contractors.

He says the province has had to return a number of desks because they were sub standard.

Mr. AKAPELWA said this in Sesheke district when he handed over three hundred desks, bought using the Constituency Development Fund CDF, to the Ministry of Education.

Meanwhile, Sesheke Town Council Chairperson, KAPELWA SIMUSHI, has assured that the council will meet the desk deficit before the end of the year.

Mr. SIMUSHI said over one thousand desks have already been manufactured under the 2022 CDF allocation, while the remainder will be bought using the 2023 CDF.

And Sesheke District Education Board Secretary, JUDY MUFUNGULWA, said the desks will help meet the high demand in schools created by the free education policy.
