september-inflation-increases-to-12%
The annual rate of inflation for the month of September 2023 has increased to 12% from 10.8% recorded last month.
Addressing the media in Lusaka today, Zambia Statistics Agency-ZAMSTATS- Statistician General Mulenga Musepa has attributed the increase to movements in prices of both food and non-food inflation which were recorded at 13.4 percent and 10 percent respectively.
Mr. Musepa said Lusaka province recorded the highest inflation at 3.9 percentage points followed by Copperbelt and Central provinces at 2.2 percentage points while North-Western province recorded the lowest at 0.4 percent.
Meanwhile, Mr. Musepa has disclosed that the Gross Domestic Product-GDP- for the second quarter of 2023 grew by 5 percent from 5.9 percent in the same period last year.
He has attributed this development to the positive contribution of the Information and Communication Technology-ICT, Education, Transport, Finance and Insurance sectors among
