The Securities and Exchange Commission-SEC- has urged investors to research before making any investment on Capital Markets to avoid fraud.
SEC Chairperson RUTH MUGALA says the world of Finance and Capital Markets is complex and challenging hence the need for investors to be vigilant and discerning.
Ms. MUGALA says investors need to gain knowledge in areas they want to invest in so that they safeguard their resources.
She said this in a speech read on her behalf by SEC Acting Chief Executive Officer NONDE SICHILIMA during the launch of the World Investor Week 2023 in Lusaka today.
Meanwhile, RACHAEL KACHA an Economics Student from Mulungushi University was awarded the first prize of 2023 SEC Essay Writing Competition.
Ms. KACHA’s Essay focused on sustainable finance that ensures investments do not only focus on profits but look out for the communities in which they operate.
And in her award acceptance speech, Ms. KACHA thanked the Commission for empowering young people with financial literacy and knowledge on Capital Markets.
