Zambia U20 Womens National Team coach Charles Haalubono has named his final 18-member squad for this Saturdays 2024 Colombia FIFA U20 Womens World Cup second round, first leg qualifier against DR Congo.
The match will be played at 15h00 at Nkoloma stadium in Lusaka. Tickets are available at K20 general access and K200 VIP. Haalubono has trimmed the squad from 35 players to 18 after a week of intensive training.
Speaking at a pre-match press briefing at Football House Friday morning, Haalubono said the technical bench had come up with a crop of players who will be able to fight for a maximum result in front of home fans.
As you train you are able to assess the players and see the coordination and condition of how they are playing, its not a big issue, Haalubono said.
We have prepared well and as usual, we train to win so we are prepared for the game. We have a good pool of players, its just up to them to prove themselves. The players are good and are ready, Haalubono said.
I like the pressure because it motivates me and it also motivates our players because that is what everyone is thinking of. If our seniors can do it, we can also do it and we are taking that as a positive.
Goalkeeper Chitete Munsaka promised to put up a champions show and carry a win ahead of the second leg set for Kinshasa next weekend.
We have prepared the team well and we shall win tomorrow. Being the home team, we shall (go all the way) and qualify to the World Cup. We promise our fans that we shall do our best tomorrow and make them proud, Munsaka said.
