The Rural Electrification Authority – REA says it will spend 56 million Kwacha to connect rural areas to electricity in Northwestern Province.

REA Chief Executive Officer -LINUS CHANDA says from the budget the authority plans to connect electricity to Maheba Refugees Camp in Kalumbila District .

Mr. CHANDA says part of the resources to connect Maheba Refugee camp with electricity has been funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees – UNHCR.

He has further revealed that the authority Plans to connect all traditional leaders’ palaces to electricity adding that currently electric poles are being erected to connect Chief Mwininyilamba’s palace to electricity.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Northwestern Province Permanent Secretary Grandson KATAMBI in Solwezi, Mr. CHANDA said the authority will provide solar power to rural health centers in the province.
