The Rural Electrification Authority -REA- in partnership with the World Bank is implementing a subsided project to connect at least 9,000 households to the national electricity grid in all rural parts of the Country .

REA Kawambwa District Director Engineering Services, ALEX MBUMBA explained that the connections will be done at a minimal fee of only 200 Kwacha instead of the actual K3,000.

Mr. MBUMBA has told journalists in Pambashe Constituency of Kawambwa that the open window period has also been extended to commercial or business entities in rural areas where there is no electricity.

He disclosed that business entities will be connected at K700 as opposed to K4,000 to enhance business activities in these areas.

Mr MBUMBA added that the initiative which has been implemented before is being sustained to allow for economic growth in potentially noticed rural regions.
