The Rural Electrification Authority -REA- plans to connect electricity to public facilities that are far away from the national grid with solar Energy.

REA Chief Executive Officer LINUS CHANDA says this will be done as soon as the resources are available.

Mr. CHANDA has also disclosed that his institution has initiated a pilot project aimed at providing bio-gas to 20 selected schools across the country to avoid the cutting down of trees for cooking by the schools.

He says this is in addition to the provision of solar-powered systems to schools that are distant from the national electricity grid.

Mr. CHANDA explains that the initiative will be piloted in school facilities that are very far from the Grid.
