The Rural Electrification Authority -REA- needs K69 billion between now and 2026 to achieve at least 51% electrification of rural areas in the country.
REA Chief Executive Officer LINUS CHANDA says the ultimate goal is to achieve one hundred percent rural electrification by the year 2030 in line with the United Nations universal coverage guidelines.
Mr. CHANDA said this when he paid a courtesy on the Southern Province administration in Choma this morning
Meanwhile Southern Province Director of Finance who represented Southern Province Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA said rural electrification is critical in achieving the Eighth National Development Plan and the decentralization agenda.
