The Road Development Agency (RDA) has signed a concession agreement with Sandstone consortium for the construction of the 85-kilometer Lumwana to Kambimba road in North-western province.

The concession agreement involves the design, build, finance, operate, maintain and transfer of the road.

The concession Agreement will also incorporate the construction of border facilities at Kambimba which links Zambia to Lwalaba province in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Speaking after the signing of the concession agreement between the contractor sandstone consortium and RDA, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban development Minister CHARLES MILUPI said the signed concession agreement is for 25 years and the project will cost over 181 million United States Dollar.

Sandstone Consortium Director and representative MARCUS ASCOTT pledged to construct a durable highway and modern border Crossing point.

And Mwinilunga Member Parliament NEWTON SAMAKAI said the construction project will enhance trade not only in the Northwestern Province but with Democratic Republic of CONGO.
