Permanent Secretary for Special Duties at Cabinet Office NAOMI TETAMASHIMBA and Solwezi Member of Parliament STAFFORD MULUSA have been flown to Lusaka for specialist treatment after being involved in a road accident in Kabwe.
Ms. TETAMASHIMBA is in a critical condition while Mr. MULUSA, who is also Parliamentary Chief Whip, is stable.
Zambia Police Deputy Public Relations Officer DANNY MWALE and Central Province Minister CREDO NANJUWA have both confirmed the accident to ZNBC news in separate interviews.
Mr. MWALE says the accident happened when a driver of a Mark X hit the Land Cruiser which was being driven by Mr. MULUSA from behind at Fig Tree area in Kabwe.
Mr. MWALE says due to the impact, Mr. MULUSA lost control of the vehicle and hit the trailer of a truck.
He says in the process, Ms. TETAMASHIMBA sustained a cut on her left eye and three broken ribs while the lawmaker sustained general body pains.
Mr. MWALE said the driver of the truck escaped unhurt while the driver of the Mark X sped off and he has not yet been identified.
