President Edgar Lungu has urged the Catholic church to engage both the ruling and opposition parties with regards to the promotion of peace in Zambia.
President Lungu says the Church should help politicians to understand the love of God.
The President says the Church should take advantage and preach peace whenever politicians visit them to ask for votes
He says politicians can destroy the country if they do not listen to the Church.
President Lungu said this during Mass at Jesus the King Karechelo Parish in Chipangali District today.
During the same gathering, Bishop of Chipata Diocese George Lungu presented a Bible to President Lungu.
Bishop Lungu urged political and religious leaders to love the people.
He said both leaders have a duty to improve the lives of the ordinary people.
Bishop Lungu thanked President Lungu for visiting the Catholic church in Chipangali.
He said the Catholic Church will work with government to improve the lives of the people.
Bishop Lungu said the Church will cooperate with government in the area of Agriculture and Education.
He said the Catholic Church will continue praying for the President and other leaders in government.
