PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has ordered reorganisation of tender committees in all ministries at staff level to improve efficiency in public procurement activities.
This unprecedented move has made Zambia Union of Government and Allied Workers president Muyaywa Kabisa to quickly recommend that workers who will be removed from committees should also be transferred to other ministries to avoid compromise.
Mr Kabisa said some public service workers have been on tender committees for a very long time, thereby comprising their integrity as they have become familiar with the system.
“This is a good position Government has taken as it addresses the concerns raised regarding procurement procedures. My appeal is to those who will be removed from tender committees not to feel aggrieved.
