The Ministry of Agriculture has started validating the proposed Plant Health Bill of 2023, which will replace the Plant Pests and Diseases Act of 1959.
Plant Quarantine and Phyto- sanitary Services Director KENNETH MSISKA says the enactment of the proposed Plant Health Bill will prevent the introduction of new pests and diseases.
Dr. MSISKA says this will enhance the export of Zambia’s Agricultural produce.
He explained that the process of drafting the proposed Bill was inclusive as stakeholder consultation meetings, were held across the country.
