By Wilson Mulinda and Patrick Mulenga-The Patriotic Front -PF- has distanced itself from stories circulating on social media that youths plan on burning down the Embassy of the United States of America in Lusaka.
PF Media Director Sunday Chanda says the party leadership has been in touch with US Embassy officials from last evening following rumoured protests by alleged PF youths targeting the American Embassy.
Mr. Chanda has clarified to ZNBC News that the stories are Fake.
He said PF understands its boundaries very well and the matter involving Ambassador Daniel Foote, though of great public concern, was adequately addressed by Foreign Affairs Minister Joe Malanji.
Mr. Chanda stated that the said stories are nothing but a total fabrication from a party masquerading as an alternative to the Patriotic Front when infact not.
He has since advised the public and all concerned parties to dismiss the fabricated stories with the highest contempt.
Mr Chanda has also appealed to the Zambia Police to bring those behind such falsehoods to justice because their conduct borders on criminality.
AND, New Congress Leader pastor Peper Chanda says the US Ambassador to Zambia Daniel Foote is over stepping his boundaries by commenting on internal politics of the country.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. Chanda said Mr. Foote should not bring the spirit of confusion between Zambia and the United States.
Mr. Chanda said Zambia agrees with the American government on a number of issues that borders on national development and certainly not homosexuality.
He, however, accused the US ambassador of taking a political stance on the matter that does not require his opinion.
Mr Chanda said if indeed Mr. Foote was to raise a genuine concern about the matter, he should have followed the right channel.
And Mr. Chanda has appealed to Zambians not to take the law into their hands but trust in government as it is handling the issue with the urgency it deserves.
He further called on the Ministry of foreign affairs to engage the American government on the matter.
And Evangelical Youth Alliance Executive Director Reverend Moses Lungu said the stance taken by the Ambassador will not be tolerated in Zambia.
Reverend Lungu said it will work well in strengthening bilateral ties between Zambia and America if the two countries respect the values of each other.
He however advised the US Ambassador, to seek legal redress on the matter of the homosexuals who were sentenced as opposed to bringing the issue in the media.
