patson-daka-rescues-a-draw-for-zambia-in-comoros

Leicester City striker Patson Daka scored in the second half to rescue a point for Chipolopolo away in Comoros.

Zambia went into the match having already qualified to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations while Comoros were looking for a consolation win.

The hosts started strongly putting pressure on Zambia who failed to stamp their authority on the match.

Zambia were forced into an early substitution as Kelvin Kapumbu went out with an injury and had to be replaced by Benson Sakala.

After dominating the majority of the first half, Comoros only got their breakthrough just before half time when Benjaloud Youssouf’s well taken free kick found its way past Lawrence Mulenga.

In the second stanza Zambia came back a different side and started pushing for an equaliser.

Klings Kangwa finally came to life and started to play his usual dominant game.

Avram Grant then introduced Emmanuel Banda in place of Rally Bwalya which made Zambia even more stable in the middle of the park.

Zambia finally levelled matters in the 71st minute when Patson Daka slotted home a Benedict Chepeshi cross, a fine finish to draw level.

The Chipolopolo Boys pushed for a late winner but could not find it as the match ended 1-1.

Zambia finish the group on top with 13 points, the same as Ivory Coast but with a better goal difference (+6).

Zambia will be back at the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2015.
