Over one hundred million Kwacha in locally generated resources was allegedly embezzled between January 2022 and June 2023 at the Solwezi Municipal Council.
North Western Province Minister ROBERT LIHEHU says preliminary investigations into the 17 suspended officers at Solwezi Municipal Council have revealed that over one hundred million Kwacha was misappropriated during this period.
He says local authorities in the region are struggling with service delivery owing to the alleged embezzlement of resources by officers in councils.
Mr. LIHEHU told ZNBC News that he is in talks with the Auditor General’s Office to conduct random audits of all councils in the Province owing to increased reports of misappropriation of resources.
