FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) general secretary Adrian Kashala says over 10 foreign coaches have so far applied for the vacant national team top job.
Kashala said in an interview that they had received an overwhelming number of applicants.
He said FAZ was expecting more applications from various coaches since there is still time before the closing date for applications on November 25.
However, Kashala could not give the details of the coaches who have applied for the job.
“We have so far received more than 10 applications for the national team coaching job but as things stand, the number will increase because the closing date is the 25th of November,” said Kashala.
The Chipolopolo job fell vacant after Belgian coach Sven Vandenbroeck was fired in March after he failed to qualify the team to the 2019 Africa Cup which was held in Egypt.
Green Eagles coach Aggrey Chiyangi was later appointed as caretaker coach and helped the team win the 2019 COSAFA Cup after beating Botswana and also qualify to the 2020 Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Cameroon.
Chiyangi, however, found the going tough in the two opening Africa Cup qualifiers after losing to Algeria and Zimbabwe much to the dismay of fans who pelted him with missiles.
