Only 2, 811 out of 20, 636 candidates that sat for their General Certificates of Education –GCE-examinations have obtained full school certificates.
Announcing the 2023 Junior Secondary External and General Certificate of Education Examination results in Lusaka this morning, Education Minister Douglas Syakalima said this represents a 13.6 percent of those who obtained school full certificate in the 2023 GCE exams.
Mr. Syakalima however notes that the GCE candidature reduced by 6.15 percent, from 157, 310 in 2022 to 147, 630 in 2023.
He said the highest mean score for GCE was recorded in food and nutrition at 80 percent, while the lowest mean score was in Christian religious education at 16 percent.
Meanwhile, Mr. Syakalima has disclosed that out of the 42, 111 candidates who sat for the 2023 Junior Secondary External exams for six or more subjects, 8, 982 obtained certificates, 26, 029 obtained statements of results while 7,110 failed in all the subjects they sat for.
