(NAIS) The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- in collaboration with the International Water Management Institute -IWMI- has developed an online platform aimed at promoting early warning and effective response to climate hazards.
DMMU National Coordinator GABRIEL POLLEN says the Early warning, Early Action and Early Finance -AWARE- Platform will strengthen Zambia’s ability to mitigate climate disasters.
Dr. POLLEN said this in a speech read on his behalf by DMMU Director of Risk Management TITUS NG’ANDU during the launch of the AWARE Platform in Lusaka.
And ClimBer Initiative Principal Researcher GIRIRAJ AMARNATH notes that the AWARE Platform will assist farming communities to adapt to climate shocks and secure their produce.
Meanwhile, Water Resources Management Authority – WARMA- Resource Operations Manager FRANK NYONI said the AWARE PLATFORM will help to avert impending disasters and contribute to the country’s economic development.
