The Oil Marketing Association of Zambia is calling for the dissolution of the Energy Regulations Board-ERB Board and the dismissal of Energy Minister, Peter Kapala for allegedly failing to manage the sub-sector.
However, Oil Marketing Association of Zambia President Kafula Mubanga says while this is welcome, Mr. Kapala and the entire ERB board should have realized that the model required review just after six months of implementing it because it was clearly not working.
Dr. Mubanga believes that both the Minister of Energy and the ERB board should be replaced immediately for failing to represent the aspirations of stakeholders in the energy sector and for lacking solutions to the challenges caused by market pressures on the domestic and international market.
He tells Phoenix News that the head of state must consider this action if the country is to see a more stable energy sector and has reminded ministry officials that models are subject to review toward reforming the sub-sector.
