Government has called on artistes to take advantage of the continued suspension of customs duty on the importation of media and film equipment.
Information and Media Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA says President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA recognizes efforts by artists, in disseminating information, hence the extension of the waiver to up to three years.
Mr. MWEETWA, who is also Chief Government Spokesperson, said this last night at the 5th Sun Fm Kwacha Music awards in Lusaka.
He said artistes, the music and film industry must import equipment to ensure productions are done to international standards.
Mr. MWEETWA said music is not only entertainment but a tool that can spur growth in the tourism sector, economic development as well as job creation among youths in country.
He praised the organizers of the Kwacha awards for consistently managing the awards for the last 5 years.
