President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has described the late former Speaker of the National Assembly AMUSA MWANAMWAMBWA as a gallant son of the soil.
President HICHILEMA says Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA distinguished himself in his illustrious career in public service.
The President said this during the burial of Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA in CHONGWE’s PALABANA area.
And the LITUNGA who was represented by Barotse Royal Establishment INDUNA INETE called on ZAMBIANS to emulate Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA’s distinguished service to the nation.
Family representative SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE, who is also Finance Minister, thanked successive governments and ZAMBIANS for having given Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA an opportunity to serve the nation.
Mr. MWANAMWAMBWA 83, is one of the longest serving Speakers of the National Assembly from 1998 to 2011.
He died on October 21, 2023.
Earlier, President HICHILEMA, accompanied by First Lady MUTINTA, led dignitaries in laying wreaths at the grave.
