Zambia’s National Chess Champion CHITUMBO MWALI has been eliminated from the ongoing Chess World Cup.

This was after MWALI suffered back to back defeats in the first and second game of the tournament being played in Azerbaijan.

The 2023 Zambia Closed Champion lost to Turkish number one MUSTAFA YILMAZ who won both games to progress to the second round.

And, speaking to ZNBC Sports News, MWALI said travel arrangements are what led to defeat in the next game as he could not concentrate.

MWALI says he knows where he must make improvements adding that he will continue training in a bid to improve chess outing at international events.
