Zambia Athletics-ZA- President ELIAS MPONDELA says sprinter MUZALA SAMUKONGA has resumed light training after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury.

MPONDELA says the 400 meters Commonwealth gold medalist is slowly gaining his form after sustaining an injury that has kept him out of action since early July.

Speaking to ZNBC Sports News in an interview, the Zambia Athletics Administrator says it is hoped that the athlete will be ready for the 2023 World Athletics championship this month.

He says having SAMUKONGA fit will also enhance Zambia’s chance of winning medals at the championship.

And, MPONDELA has further expressed optimism that all the three athletes that will represent Zambia have the potential to enter into the medal bracket.

Zambia will be represented by PATRICK NYAMBE, MUZALA SAMUKONGA , RHODA NJOVU and NIDDY MINGILISHI.
