MUZA out to end Gomes jinx

The FAZ/ Eden University national division one league entered week four on Saturday with some time exciting matches taking place. Mazabuka based outfit Maestro United (FC MUZA) will be in action this afternoon as they welcome Gomes FC of Ndola.

Nakambala Stadium is still under lock and key hence, MUZA was forced to find themselves a new home in Choma’s independence Stadium for the time being.


The 2 teams have previously met twice and it is Gomes who walked away victorious over MUZA both times. FC MUZA is going into this match ready to end and break their jinx against Gomes.

The last two meetings saw the Ndola based outfit win 3-1 and 2-1.


FC MUZA has enjoyed good form of late having won 2 of their last 3 games and managed to score 6 goals and the goals coming from both midfielders and strikers. The defense on the other hand has also only allowed 3 goals.

The hosts walk into this fixture having not suffered any loss at home so far this season and with fans now allowed in the Stadium they will have a considerable crowd to chant at the stadium despite them being away from Mazabuka.

Gomes has not tasted victory and are yet to score a goal in their last 3 games but have managed to allow 3 goals. The last game saw them suffer a defeat at home at the hands of Lusaka based outfit Mailti Rangers.


Gomes will be looking to continue their dominance over FC MUZA despite their poor form recently. MUZA on the other hand is high on morale after managing a 5-0 win over Mpulungu Harbour in their last home game.

MUZA will be hoping that newly acquired former Roan United winger Bobo Kidimbu continues his recent tremendous form with the help of Andrew Phiri upfront and workaholic Mandra Muleya the current club top scorer.

The venue and place to be this afternoon is Choma’s Independence Stadium as the two teams aim to collect maximum points. Kick-off for the match is set at 15:00.
