Speaker of the National Assembly, NELLY MUTTI has been awarded the Commonwealth Parliamentarian of the year 2023.
Ms. MUTTI won the award at the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Accra, Ghana.
The selection committee conferred Ms. MUTTI following a rigorous adjudication process that saw her receive eight nominations from around the Commonwealth.
The committee further praised the Zambian Speaker for her exceptional qualities and contribution in upholding the rule of law and commitment to transparency in her execution of parliamentary processes.
She was further applauded for her dedication in ensuring citizen access to parliamentary information and proceedings.
In accepting the award, Ms. MUTTI dedicated her recognition to all female parliamentarians in the Commonwealth as they collectively strive to attain gender parity.
