At least 40,000 livestock farmers will be affected by the destruction of the veterinary offices in Mumbwa District which was burnt down during the riots.

This is because all animal drugs, records and files among other things were destroyed.

The District will also have to outsource for rabbies vaccines as there is an outbreak of the disease in the District.

Central Province Minister CREDO NANJUWA disclosed this when he inspected the extent of damage of the veterinary office which was burnt by an angry mob.

Meanwhile, some farmers have pleaded with government to quickly set up new Veterinary Offices to avoid serious shocks to their livestock.

And Mumbwa District Commissioner NAMUKOLO HAYUMBU says communication has been made to Lusaka Veterinary Offices on the need for supply of drugs.
