A 78-year old woman of Chieftainess Kawaza’s area in Katete district has been found dead after missing from home for two weeks.
The decomposed body of Dailesi Banda was on Thursday found buried in a shallow grave about two kilometres from the village.
Eastern Province Police Commanding officer Limpo Liywalii says the deceased is alleged to have been murdered on an unknown date between 14 August at 05:00 hours and 24th August 2023.
Mr Liywalii says the deceased left home to collect okra in the field but never returned.
He says the body was discovered after some young men who were herding cattle saw a piece of chitenge material she was wearing protruding on the ground.
Mr Liywalii says police only discovered bones and the deceased was identified by clothes and the shoes she was wearing.
He says the remains of the deceased and the clothes were picked for burial.
