Unions in the mining sector say the signing of the implementation agreement on Konkola Copper Mines- KCM- by Vedanta has excited them.
Speaking to ZNBC News in separate interviews, Mine Workers Union of Zambia MUZ and the National Union of Miners and Allied Workers- NUMAW said the issue of KCM has been a thorny one to the unions.
MUZ President JOSEPH CHEWE has however challenged Vedanta to honor its promises to the workers of KCM.
And NUMAW President SAUL SIMUJIKA said the union will play a watchdog role to ensure that the mine does the right thing.
